Element 4 Teaching Technology
Element description
This element provides an insight on how to implement technology education in New Zealand classrooms. This element prepares student teachers to teach technology. Element 4 has the following three aspects.
Aspect 1: Planning
Outlines how programmes of learning and lessons/activities can be planned in technology. This aspect supports student teachers to understand how to develop programmes and lessons/activities in technology that offer opportunity for authentic contexts and practice.
Aspect 2: Assessment
Describes assessment practices appropriate to technology education. This aspect helps student teachers understand assessment practices that enhance the learning process and outcomes.
Aspect 3: Teaching Practice
This aspect helps student teachers recognise the importance of context specific knowledge and skills, offers opportunity to experience technology in action and understand good practice in technology.
