Jan Cunningham started her business career in 1967, threading together a beaded hair tie called The Va-va on her parents' dining-room table. Now the business is creating cosmetic bags.

With their trendy patterns, the New Zealand-designed and China-manufactured TL+C bags found a gap in the market. The company beat much larger international competitors to win contracts with John Lewis and online fashion giant ASOS to fill orders for one-off special-project cosmetic bags.
