Färg & Blanche demonstrates wood stitching technique with Gärsnäs' Julius series
26 February 2016
A Swedish studio has been developing a sewing machine technique called "wood tailoring", used to stitch directly onto the wood, piecing together different materials and parts.
The "Julius" sofa and armchair collection will be exhibited at the 2016 Stockholm furniture fair.
The choice of upholstery, the chosen surface treatment of the wooden back plate, and the varying colours of the visible stitching can all be varied.
